Die Drahtstärke beschreibt den Durchmesser der einzelnen Stäbe, aus denen eine Doppelstabmatte besteht. Diese Matten setzen sich aus vertikal angeordneten Stäben zusammen, die durch horizontal verlaufende Stäbe fixiert werden. Konkret bedeutet dies, dass alle 50 mm ein vertikaler Stab und alle 200 mm zwei horizontale Stäbe verlaufen, wodurch sich eine Maschenweite von 50 × 200 mm ergibt.

Die Bezeichnung der Drahtstärke erfolgt über drei Zahlen, die den Durchmesser der Stäbe angeben. Bei einer Doppelstabmatte mit einer Drahtstärke von 6/5/6 mm haben die beiden horizontalen Stäbe einen Durchmesser von 6 mm, während die vertikalen Stäbe 5 mm stark sind. Dieses Prinzip gilt auch für Matten mit einer Drahtstärke von 8/6/8 mm.

Für den privaten Bereich, wie die Einzäunung von Gärten oder Grundstücken, empfiehlt Zaun-Idee eine Drahtstärke von 6/5/6 mm. Im gewerblichen und industriellen Umfeld wird dagegen häufiger die Drahtstärke 8/6/8 mm eingesetzt. Besonders bei der Verwendung von Sichtschutzstreifen wird diese auch für den privaten Bereich empfohlen, da beide Stärken eine hervorragende Stabilität und Langlebigkeit gewährleisten.

The individual double rod mats are attached to the fence posts. There are four different types of attachment for you to choose from:

Depending on the design, the fastening is either pre-mounted on the posts as standard, prepared or supplied as an accessory. Depending on the fence height and fastening type, a different number of fastening elements are required.
Note: The number of fasteners required is automatically determined by our configurator and is fully included in the scope of delivery.
Tip: Using fence posts with clamps or U-brackets is the easiest way to create inclines or declines in the fence.

Fence posts with clamps

The fence post with clamps is considered an all-rounder and is a bestseller. It is suitable for all applications and areas of use. With the help of the clamping system, the rod mats can be easily screwed onto the fence post. The support blocks are already pre-assembled on the fence post at the factory using a rivet nut, so that the fence mat can be hung directly and mounted on the post using clamping plates and fence construction screws. This preparation allows for quick and easy installation. The clamp itself and all individual parts of the fastening material such as rivet nuts and screws are made of high-quality aluminum. Only the clamping block has direct contact with the rod mat and the fence post, which is why it is made of plastic. This prevents damage to the coating of the rod mat and the post. The mat is placed on the existing clamping block and then simply screwed in place.
Note: The number of clamps is automatically determined by the configurator depending on the fence height.
Tip: For fence posts with clamps, it is possible to subsequently attach cover strips, as both versions are similar. To do this, all clamp plates are dismantled and replaced with a continuous cover strip (40 × 4 mm).

Fence posts with cover strips

The post version with cover strip is very similar to the post version with clamps. In this version, the support bracket is also pre-assembled with a rivet nut at the factory so that the mats can be easily hung in. The support bracket holds the two ends of the rod mats that meet. However, instead of the clamping plates, a stable and continuous 40 × 4 mm thick cover strip is screwed onto each post in front of all fastening elements. This means that the rod mats are securely fixed to the post. In addition, the edges of the rod mats are optimally covered by this strip. This creates a uniform and harmonious overall appearance on the fence posts and for the entire fence. The cover strip is also hot-dip galvanized and powder-coated in the RAL color of the fence.
Note: The number of fastening elements (rivet nuts) is automatically determined by the configurator depending on the fence height.
Tip:The fence posts with cover strips are particularly recommended for a privacy fence that is made with privacy strips. The privacy strips can be easily pushed behind the cover strips and a uniform, very elegant privacy screen is created.

Fence posts with U-brackets

Fence posts with U-brackets are used particularly on steep slopes or sloping properties. The reason is that the U-brackets can be attached to the fence post very flexibly and at the required height. The rod mats are simply clamped to the post at the appropriate height between the clamping block and the U-bracket and fixed with screws. This type of fastening allows a high degree of flexibility during installation.
Note: The number of U-brackets depends on the fence and post height and is automatically determined by our fence configurator.

Fence posts with U-brackets

The clamp fence post is the only post design where both sides of the post look identical. This means that you do not have to decide which side of the attachment should face the neighbor and which should face the garden. The clamps can be individually attached to the post at the desired height. In this case, the bar mats do not meet. They are fixed to the left and right of the post using a plastic clamping tab. The clamping tab is made of plastic so that it does not damage the coating of the bar mats. The clamps are hot-dip galvanized and are delivered to match the selected RAL color of the fence.
Note: How many clamps you need varies depending on the post and fence height and is automatically determined by our fence configurator.

The number of fence posts depends on the fence length you enter. Our fence configurator automatically determines the number of fence posts for your project based on your input. All fence posts are hot-dip galvanized according to DIN EN ISO 1461 as standard and can be powder-coated in a desired RAL color on request. The profile of the fence posts measures 60 × 40 × 2 mm.

All other RAL colours can of course be ordered on request for orders of a higher value or more .

In order to protect the fence posts from the weather and the ingress of water, post caps can be placed on the upper part of the post. The delivery includes plastic post caps in the color of the post as standard. This does not apply to hot-dip galvanized posts (silver gray), which are delivered with black plastic post caps as standard. However, you also have the option of selecting and ordering aluminum post caps in a matching color for the fence posts of your fence project.

Overview of post cap colours

Plastic post caps measure 60 × 40 × 65 mm and are suitable for all of our fence posts. The post caps for posts with clamps, brackets and U-brackets are placed precisely on the posts and are flush. Post caps for fence posts with cover strips have an overhang and measure 95 x 45 x 10 mm. This means that not only the post but also the cover strip is safely protected. In this case, the post caps are flush with the cover strip.

Aluminium post caps

Post caps made of aluminum visually enhance the entire fence system and make it appear more elegant than with post caps made of plastic. They are also much more UV-resistant. The dimensions of the post caps depend on the post design. For fence posts with clamps, brackets and U-brackets, matching caps measuring 60 × 40 × 10 mm are supplied. For fence posts with cover strips, you will receive post caps measuring 95 × 50 × 10 mm. These have an overhang to achieve a clean and flush finish with the cover strips. The post caps are supplied in the color selected for the fence post.

We offer our double wire mesh fences for sale in heights from 830 to 2430 mm. The stated fence height already includes the 30 mm overhang of the fence tips. These are only on one side of the mesh mat. The other side ends straight with a horizontal wire rod. You are free to mount the fence tips pointing upwards or downwards.

Depending on the fence height and type of fastening, different numbers of fastening elements are required for the rod mats. This number is automatically determined by the configurator and is included in the scope of delivery.

Fixing points on fence posts

A single fence element of a double wire mesh fence is always 2510 mm long and can be shortened to the desired length with an angle grinder (Flex) if necessary. After shortening the mesh panels, we recommend sealing the cut points. For this purpose, a suitable paint spray or zinc spray is included in the delivery of every order. This is the only way to ensure protection against corrosion (rust formation).

There are three different options for attaching the fence posts, which you can choose from depending on local conditions. Recommendation: If the double wire mesh fence is fitted with privacy strips after installation and thus becomes a privacy fence, we recommend setting the fence posts in concrete due to the wind load.

1.Fence posts for setting in concrete

The fence post with clamps is considered an all-rounder and is a bestseller. It is suitable for all applications and areas of use. With the help of the clamping system, the rod mats can be easily screwed onto the fence post. The support blocks are already pre-assembled on the fence post at the factory using a rivet nut, so that the fence mat can be hung directly and mounted on the post using clamping plates and fence construction screws. Fence posts for setting in concrete are around 500 to 600 mm longer than the fence height you have selected. For the foundation, we recommend digging a diameter of 200 to 300 mm. This is the only way to ensure that the fence posts are frost-proof and stable and set in concrete. Approximately 60 kg of screed concrete, which is mixed with water until it is moist, should be used per fence post.
Tip: For fence posts with clamps, it is possible to subsequently attach cover strips, as the two designs are very similar. To do this, the clamping plates are simply replaced with a continuous cover strip.

Base plates can be used to attach the fence posts to level foundations or wall projections with a minimum width of 14 cm. These are attached to the surface using 4 dowels and screws each. The heavy-duty anchors are always included in the delivery and do not need to be ordered separately. All posts are placed on the 14.2 cm high post holder of the base plate. The posts can be attached to the post holder using the self-tapping screws provided. The posts will then no longer be able to wobble. Unevenness can be compensated for by adjusting the height of the post on the post holder. For the post versions for doweling with a base plate, the posts are about 80 mm longer than the final fence height in order to ensure optimal ground clearance.

A special base plate can be used for the professional installation of fence posts on L-shaped curbs. The two legs of this base plate form a right angle, which can be optimally attached to projections with a minimum width of 10 cm. A total of three elongated holes are set into the base plate, which are used for stable and secure attachment. All posts are placed on the 14.2 cm high post holder on the base plate. The posts can be attached to the post holder using the self-tapping screws provided. The posts will then no longer wobble. Unevenness can be compensated for by adjusting the height of the post on the post holder. For the post versions for doweling with the L-base plate, the posts are about 80 mm longer than the final fence height in order to ensure optimal ground clearance.

• Image 1: You can use our corner connectors for corners with an angle of 10 to 170 degrees. In this case, you do not need an additional corner post.
• Image 2: You can get by without corner posts or corner connectors if our Zaun-Idee fitters bend the rod mats on site according to your wishes. To do this, a piece of the horizontal rods is cut out and the rod mat is then bent into the desired position. This option is also available if you do not want to shorten the rod mats.
